Dabur Honey: Which Size to Buy and How Long It Lasts
If you are choosing between a 100g and a 500g pack, the question that matters is how fast your household finishes honey. Here is the arithmetic, plus a few things worth knowing before you buy.
How long each pack lasts
A level teaspoon of honey weighs about 7g. At one teaspoon a day, one person finishes:
- 50g: about a week
- 100g: about two weeks
- 250g: about five weeks
- 400g Squeezy Pack: about eight weeks
- 500g: about ten weeks
- 1kg: about twenty weeks
If four people in the house each take a teaspoon, divide by four. A 500g pack then lasts about 18 days.
So the small packs are for trying it, 250g suits one or two people who use honey a few times a week, and 500g or 1kg make sense for a family that uses it every day.
Jar or Squeezy Pack
The honey is the same. The Squeezy Pack is easier to pour onto bread or into tea without dipping a spoon every time. A jar is easier to spoon out if the honey has set.

Dabur Honey and Sundarbans honey
Dabur Honey is sold as 100% pure honey with no sugar adulteration. Dabur Sundarbans Wild Forest Honey is a different product. Dabur describes it as mangrove wild forest honey, bought directly from honey collectors, the Maulis of the Sundarbans. Sundarbans honey is gathered once a year, roughly from late March to early June. Bangladeshi newspapers have reported ordinary honey being sold under the Sundarbans name, which is a good reason to buy it from an official seller. If you want one of each, there is a combo.

Storing it, and what to do when it turns solid
Keep the lid shut, keep it in the pantry, and use a dry spoon. The fridge makes honey set faster, so there is no need for it.
If the honey turns thick or grainy, it has crystallised. That is the natural sugars in honey settling, and it does not mean the honey has gone off. Stand the jar in a bowl of warm water until it softens. Do not boil it.
Two things worth knowing
- Never give honey to a baby under 12 months. It can cause infant botulism (NHS advice).
- The WHO counts honey as a free sugar. It advises keeping all free sugars below 10% of daily calories (WHO). Honey is food, not a way around that limit.
About testing honey at home
The water-glass, thumb and flame tests are everywhere online. We found no good evidence that they work. Sugar syrup in honey is found in a laboratory. The practical protection is to buy sealed packs from a seller you trust.
All sizes are in the honey collection. We deliver across Bangladesh, usually within 2 to 5 days.
